Thanks to the not-exactly-summery “summer” Vancouver’s been having this year, I’ve actually gotten to wear this vintage cashmere sport coat I recently snagged*.
It’s a “Chester Barrie” for Trimingham’s Bermuda”. Chester Barrie’s still around. Trimingham’s…. well, not so much. Appropriately, since the jacket was sold to tourists in Bermuda, it only has a 1/4 lining (which is why this discussion of wearing cashmere in June is happening to begin with.)
But the real tricky part, to my mind, regarding wearing this jacket is not when, but where. This is a pretty bold houndstooth pattern – not the kind of thing you see on guys in this neck of the woods. Vancouver’s geography (and fashion sense) is as far from New England trad as you’d expect.
So, what am I saying? From a geographical-socio-urban-anthropomorphic** viewpoint I should be naming my jacket Nigel?
Well, if it fits…***
* Thanks for the tip-off, Put This On!
** “geographical-socio-urban-anthropomorphic”? Please tell me I made that up
***$ 50.00 for tailoring later, it does
